Your body is a complex machine that runs on both macronutrients and micronutrients, which makes up your daily nutrition intake. Without your macronutrients, you will starve and die very quickly. Without micronutrients, you can survive for a long time but it will be very uncomfortable since your body is unable to produce them. Your body requires the proper micronutrients or will slowly start to deteriorate, start experiencing problems in your bones, muscles, and organs.
So just like a machine, think of Macronutrients as the gas in the tank of a car, while Micronutrients are the oil in the motor. You can’t run on no gas, and if you don’t ever change the oil you’re eventually gonna run into problems.
Macronutrients are broken down into three categories:
Carbohydrates - These are your simple sugars, complex sugars, and fiber. These give you a ton of energy very quickly and can be stored as fat for later use.
Fats - These are your unsaturated, saturated, and trans fats. These are broken down into ketones and supply your body with slow consistent energy over time.
Proteins - These are often found with fatty foods and help to build up your muscles. These can provide energy for the body when you no longer supply the body with enough fats or sugars.
Micronutrients are categorized into two main categories:
Vitamins - Are organic (living) compounds that can be found in food or at local pharmacies (Also at Wellness Health Group). Vitamins assist in the body’s energy production, immune function, blood clotting, and essential functions.
Minerals - Are inorganic (non-living) compounds that can be found in water and soil or at local pharmacies (Also at Wellness Health Group). Minerals assists in the body’s growth, bone health, fluid balance, and several other essential processes.
